Cluster Version Maintenance Description
UK8S is a container management service based on native Kubernetes. The cluster versions supported by this product will be updated in reference to the new version release rhythm of the Kubernetes community. The following is the Kubernetes version support mechanism for the UK8S service:
Version Release
Version | Status | Release Time | End of Maintenance Time |
---|---|---|---|
1.28.15 | Supported | 2025.01.03 | - |
1.26.7 | Supported | 2023.10.24 | - |
1.24.12 | Supported | 2023.05.08 | - |
1.22.5 | End of Maintenance | 2022.01.20 | 2025.01.03 |
1.20.6 and below | End of Maintenance | - | 2023.10.25 |
Version Support
From October 2023, UK8S will only release and support three major versions of Kubernetes with even numbers. The policies supported by the platforms are as follows:
Cluster Creation
You can create clusters of the three Kubernetes even-numbered major versions supported by the UK8S console.
For example, the console currently supports versions 1.20.6
, 1.22.5
, and 1.24.12
. Once UK8S releases support for 1.26.7
, version 1.20.6
will cease maintenance and you will not be able to create this version.
Cluster Upgrade
Version upgrades only support upgrades between adjacent major versions. Cross-version upgrades and version rollbacks are not supported.
Technical Support
The three versions supported by the UK8S console provide corresponding technical support, such as problem-solving, online guidance, and issue troubleshooting. Kubernetes clusters with expired versions have certain risks, and technical support timeliness for expired versions is not guaranteed. It is recommended that you upgrade the Kubernetes version in a timely manner.
For expired versions, UK8S only provides major defect fixes (affecting cluster maintenance and deletion, node or Pod resource creation, deletion, and maintenance, as well as major vulnerabilities, etc.), and does not provide functional defect fixes or new features.
Plugin Upgrade
Plugins like CloudProvider
, CSI
, and CNI
can only be upgraded in the aforementioned cluster versions. If you need the latest plugin features, please upgrade the cluster version in a timely manner.
Refer to CloudProvider plugin update, CSI storage plugin upgrade, and CNI network plugin upgrade.
Image Version
CentOS officially announced that it will end the maintenance of the CentOS Linux project. As the basic image CentOS Linux provided by Genesis Cloud is derived from the official CentOS, Genesis Cloud will stop maintaining this basic image accordingly.
